Based on a prompt that involves different spaces merged into one. The main space is based on my bedroom with an underwater theme to it. Outside the window is another space that involves land (land vs water).
During Inktober, I was inspired by a toy model of Zelda from Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Considering the prompt was Fancy, I felt like the princess suited the prompt very well.
Tethered depicts an astronaut drawn using scumbling and cross-hatching. This ink drawing represents how people tend to dwell on things for too long and often find themselves tethered on for too long—overly focused on something.
Dreaming is often a strange experience that people deal with almost every night. Considering the fact that a lot of dreams tend to lack logical explanations, many people can describe their dreams as strange and even surreal. The meaning behind this ink drawing can be left up to interpretation to the viewer just like how we interpret our own dreams differently.
Wanting to experiment with the way I create art, I decided to give up some of my control over this piece. Most of the things that were done were done spontaneously. I wanted this piece to be somewhat abstract considering that I don’t usually work with abstract art.
Since I enjoy working with colors, digital art allows me to experiment with a large range of colors. I wanted to continue incorporating a space theme with a starry background. This was my first detailed character drawing.
This sculpted piece utilized found objects, plaster, and printed images. For the statue drawing, a lot of the details and color were lost during the printing process and so I traced the image with ink along with using the ink streaks and coloring them with pink. This piece is centered around the found paper, “It’s an affair!”
This is the first time I made character concept art of my original character. It was a strange feeling to put a character on paper mainly due to the fact that I imagine my characters. They are usually written about and rarely drawn. I played around with an almost monochromatic palette.
